TJ Finley

General Manager

TJ first fell in love with strength training as a teenager, participating in both football and wrestling at Pickerington High School. As a sophomore he took 3rd place in his first bench press competition. After a year of college football at Muskingum University, he transferred to Ohio State and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminology. During his time at Ohio State, he coached football and wrestling at Centennial High School and structured strength and conditioning programming for both sports. After graduation, he spent years training as a mixed martial artist, eventually turning professional and fighting in organizations such as the “King of the Cage”. TJ has over 20 years of strength training experience and has spent the past 5 years with a focus on powerlifting. He hopes to instill proper form and technique in the core compound exercises to promote strength in the beginner athlete while also working with competitive powerlifters to increase max effort attempts and overall gains.

Rachel Escolas

Rachel was a Flight Medic in the Air Force Reserves and served seven exciting years. She first found CrossFit while deployed to Afghanistan in October 2012; Kandahar CrossFit. CrossFit quickly became the best part of her deployment. She loved the community and made some very good friends along the way.

Once her deployment was complete and she transferred to Ohio, her next stop was CrossFit Grandview. She started doing some local competitions which fueled her desire to become more competitive in the CrossFit community. In an effort to improve her lifting skills, she also found Columbus Weightlifting and competed in her first Olympic lifting meet.

Being at the gym, lifting and fine-tuning her technique quickly became a passion. Rachel obtained her CrossFit Level 1 Certification in March 2014 and competed in the Central East Regionals. After coaching at some local gyms, she was able to grow her passion to help others realize their fitness goals while founding CBUS Lifting Co.
